" What is Preventative Maintenance? "

Preventive Maintenance, often abbreviated PM, refers to performing regular maintenance in order to prevent system problems. This is in comparison to diagnostic or corrective maintenance, which is performed to correct a current problem.

IMAGINE THIS: If you have ever owned or cared for a car then you know all about what preventive maintenance is. Oil changes, Rotating Tires, Tune-Ups... you do that so your engine will last and you won't have car troubles down the road.

Your computer requires the same amount of maintenance as a vehicle does. The vents and fans can become clogged with dust just as your air filters do in your car. Your computer gets clogged up inside with Temporary files and cookies in the same way that you need an oil change.The hardware inside your computer eventually wears out and needs replaced similar to your car. You need to add cleaners and fluids occasionally; just as you have to clean your computer from viruses or add more memory to the mainboard.... and YES... Different computers in different environments NEED DIFFERENT amounts of Preventative Maintenance

* Preventive Maintenance Saves You Money:
What? How can spending money monthly cost me less in the long run? Avoiding problems will save you money compared to paying for new components or repeated repair jobs, or worse a NEW Computer!

* Preventive Maintenance Saves Time:
Preventive maintenance procedures are quite simple compared to troubleshooting and repair procedures. You can pay a pre-determined fee for Preventative Maintenance, compared to an undetermined amount of time (and Money!) for troubleshooting a computer at our hourly rate.

* Preventive Maintenance Helps Safeguard Your Data:
The data on the hard disk is more important than the hardware that houses it. If your computer crashed today...how would it affect your life tommorrow? How much do you rely on your computer system to perform everyday activities? You would be surprised at home common computer use has become in this time period. you don't realize how much you rely on your computer until you have to go without it for a long period of time. Try it yourself... don't check your E-Mail for one or two days... it will start to get to you quick!

* Preventive Maintenance Helps Improve Performance:
Performance of your system will degrade over time.Preventive maintenance will help to improve the speed of your system in these respects.

Most Computer Service Centers focus on one-time fixes. They look for one-time customers instead of long-term clients. In and Out computer service. Many computer businesses do not care if a customer comes back to them or whether they refer them to others. They try to make the most profit possible, as quick as possible, when dealing with the customer. What computer users want is for their computers to be running properly, and to have reliable support when they encounter a problem. What many Computer Service Centers want is for computer users to have problems with their computers. They obviously do not have the same interests.

At CGrafiks we have a different attitude. . We believe that if we can keep your computer running well at all times, then you will be glad to refer your friends and family to us. We know that if you need service in the future, you will be more than willing to come back to us to do it and in the meanwhile we are getting steady income from your referrals! Why? SO WHAT DO YOU GET?

20+ POINT INSPECTION
1 Diagnose all Computer Hardware - CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, CD/DVD, VGA, PCI, DMA - Verify Correct Operating Temperatures! Recommend Hardware Replacement if necessary.
2 Verify All Hardware Drivers are installed and up to date.
3 Review Server Error logs and address any issues that might cause a problem

Review Event Viewer and Performance logs on Workstation PC's.
4 Update and / or Upgrade hardware firmware - Firewall, Routers, CD/DVD, Etc.

Apply any critical service packs and required software upgrades.
Update: Adobe Reader, Java, Flash and Microsoft Updates!
IE7 and Service Pack 3 if applicable are installed.
Recently purchased software installations

6 Check UPS (Battery Backups) - Verify they still hold a charge and are functioning properly.
7 Remove Unnecessary startup items and clear Browsing History in Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. (Temp files, cookies, History, Forms, Passwords)
8 Backup Internet Explorer favorites, or Mozilla Firefox favorites
9 Flush DNS Resolver Cache and verify network security settings.
10 Update Malware Removal Software - Virus, Spyware, Adware

Schedule automatic Malware scans: Virus, Spyware, Adware

Manually run Malware Scans - (If not scanning automatically)

12 Review virus activity logs and warn customer of unsafe browsing behaviors or software installations that may cause problems.
13 Run Disk Cleanup, Defragment if necessary. DO SCANDISK LAST!
14 PC Performance settings are optimized. - Check Full Hard Disk Volumes. Schedule Scandisk, Defragmenter, Automatic Updates, and Disk Cleanup for weekly cleanup.
15 15. System Restore Point created after all maintenance is performed.
16 Check Printers - Print Test Page, verify ink levels and gather replacement part numbers for customer.
17 DON'T FORGET SCANDISK - RESTART THE PC!
18 Clean External of Computer Tower and Monitors. Clean mouse, keyboard.
19 Perform Internal cleaning of computer components. CPU, Heatsinks, Fans, and Vents. Ensure Proper Cooling inside the Case. Check Fans and vents.
20 Meeting to discuss current issues and address future requirements or upgrades.
21 Answer any technical questions the customer may have


" How Much Does It Cost? "

We charge the same amount for a Business as we do for a Residential customer. As a business, we understand how expensive it can be to stay running and therefore do not charge different rates as many Service Centers do. We charge $50 per hour (1 hour minimum) for an onsite service call within 25 miles of Crossville, TN, and $35 per hour if the computer is brought to us at the shop. Now, as you can see from the chart above... there is a lot of work involved in a PM plan and yours may vary depending on your location and size of your network. Sadly, I cannot give you an exact price right now.
